What happens when the 7 year old son of a British diplomat is kidnapped in America? Well, for one, FBI Agent Sara Pierson is called on to assist with finding the boy. The Brits claim the IRA is responsible, but the evidence and the manner in which the kidnapping was carried out indicates otherwise. Sara meets Nora de Burgh – an IRA enforcer serving time in prison. A scheme is devised to have Nora ‘escape’ prison and assist Sara solving the kidnapping case. What Sara doesn’t plan on is dealing with the Russian mafia and falling for the hardcore IRA enforcer! And just when she thinks it’s over – her world crashes! This is a heart racing and intense tale about a good FBI agent vs IRA rebels vs Brit diplomats vs Russian mafia vs lying US government officials! What more could you ask for in a novel of this nature? Great characters and a great storyline kept this gay dude reading – even through the girl-on-girl stuff! hehehe

On the surface, this looks like a really short book with little substance. However, you truly can’t judge a book by its cover. Graskey more than met my expectations by delivering a multi-faceted story with interesting characters and a great plot. Despite it’s few pages, OCTOBER ECHOES is well worth the cost and time to read.

FBI agent Sara Pierson is assigned to rescue a kidnapped young boy. It appears the culprits are associated with the Irish Republican Army. To find him, she has to get help from convicted IRA rebel Nora DeBurgh. Nora is a tough cookie with a sophisticated personal network and an immense sense of pride and country. Knowing she will some day go back to prison, she agrees to help Sara for personal reasons. The ensuing adventure is quite amazing.

Full of questions and answers, half-truths and half-lies, this complex story that spans two continents is actually more like classic literature than many books in this genre. It took me a while to get started because I was expecting something different, but I’m certainly glad I finished this enjoyable book.

This book sounded interesting, but so far-fetched that I figured I’d have to check my brains at the door. Imagine my surprise when I found myself buying into the story.

Neither Sara or Nora were innocents, and found themselves sexually attracted to each other. So, yes they did have casual sex – pretty hot casual sex. But that still didn’t mean they trusted each other. And it certainly doesn’t mean they fall in love…did it?

I’ve met the author and based on my knowledge of her military experiences, I am sure the military aspects were very accurate. As for the Irish Terrorist underworld and the workings of the FBI…all I can say is that I believed what she wrote.

Nora spoke with an Irish dialect. I’m not generally fond of special dialects in books – but it wasn’t over done and I found hers very easy to follow. In fact, for a couple of days after reading the book, I found myself thinking with a bit of an Irish dialect.

The book has many surprising twists and turns. I would have to say it is one of the best adventure books I’ve read. If you like adventure, intrigue, betrayal, conspiracy theories and hot sex, you will definitely love this book.

Note – I only post “reviews” for books that I highly recommend.

When I first read the summary of this book I wasn’t interested in reading it however, after I read Graskey’s other book I couldn’t wait to get a hold of it. The story is fast paced with plot twists and romance and I am sure it will become as well read (numerous times) as her first novel was for me.
